Book Exchange:
All students have a scheduled opportunity to visit the library once per week with their classes. In addition to that, there are Open Book Exchange times scheduled at the beginning of the day and right after lunch each day throughout the week. These are times during which any student may come to the library.
Checkout Limits:
To ensure that everyone can enjoy our collection and have access to a good selection of resources, students will be limited to having 2 books (K-2) and 3 books (3-7) checked out at a time. Special exceptions will be made on an individual basis (for example, if the student needs resources for a project). Remember, there are additional open exchange blocks scheduled throughout the week -- if you finish your books, you can swap them for new ones before your next class visit!
Late Books:
The standard checkout time for books is 2 weeks. As long as there is not a hold (a request) on any of the materials you have checked out, you may renew them for additional time if you need to. Please be prompt with returning books you have finished reading as others are waiting to read them, too.
Book Care:
Books should be taken to and from school in a plastic bag inside your backpack (in case something spills -- believe me, it happens!). At home, please make sure books are placed in a safe place, out of reach of younger siblings who might mistake them for colouring books. Please don't shove library books inside your desk -- they will get crumpled! If everyone remembers these tips, we'll make sure that our library collection remains fantastic for years to come. A replacement fee will be charged for lost or unrepairable books.
